Perkins, Sullivan shine as Huskers fall to Kentucky

The No. 5 Nebraska rifle team fell just short of No. 8 Kentucky, losing by a score of 4,722-4,719.

Alivia Perkins led the way, placing second with a score of 1,185. Katlyn Sullivan and Carley Seabrooke followed her, with Sullivan placing third with a 1,183, and Seabrooke placing fifth with a score of 1,182. 

Perkins also led the team in the smallbore with a 592, earning first place. In third place, Seabrooke shot a 587, and in fifth, Sullivan scored a 585. Makenzie Larson (581, seventh), Hannah Gallagher (581, eighth), Maddy Moyer (576, 11th), Charlie Mick (576, 12th), Kenly Downey (575, 14th) and Grace Corbett (565, 15th) finished the smallbore lineup for the Big Red.  

In the air rifle, Sullivan placed first with a 598. Moyer (fourth) followed with a 596 and Seabrooke (fifth) scored a 595. Perkins and Mick tied at 593, earning them seventh and ninth, respectively. The tiebreaker was determined by the number of inner tens shot by each athlete. Larson (592, tenth), Corbett (592, 11th), Gallagher (586, 14th) and Downey (579, 15th) completed the air rifle lineup for the Huskers. 

Nebraska stays at home to face another Top 10 team in Alaska-Fairbanks on Sunday, Oct. 25. The match will start at 8 a.m. (CT) and will take place at the Nebraska Rifle Range.
