Nebraska Strike Down Cyclones, 197-101

Nebraska swim and dive team collected the first win of the season against Iowa State, 197-101. NU swept 13 events, with Beatrix Tanko leading the way with four titles won at the Devaney Natatorium in Lincoln, Neb., on Friday afternoon. 

Nebraska snagged the first title of the season in the 200 medley, with a team of Virginia Consiglio, Dominika Borkowska, Beatrix Tanko and Natalie Dunaway with a time of 1:41.84. 

NU continued to dominate in the 1000 Free with senior Claire Parsons leading NU with a time of 10:15.73, securing NU’s second title. Sophomore Alaria Hadford joined Parsons on the podium with a second-place finish with a time of 10:26.24. 

The junior out of Richmond, Va., Riley Miklos took first in two events for the Cornhuskers, in the 200 and 500 free with times of 1:50.37 and 5:02.38, respectively. From Vittorio Veneto, Italy, Aurora Zanin captured a title for Nebraska in the 200 fly with a time of 2:02.86.

Tanko took first in two events, securing wins in the 50 free with 23.43 and the 100 fly, clocking a time of 54.81. First-year Husker Meredith Payton added her second title win as a Cornhusker with a first-place finish in the 100 free with 52.09.

Marissa Laurin secured a pair of titles for Big Red in the 200 breaststroke and 200 IM with times of 2:02.32 and 2:05.05.

Junior Jazmyn Lunn added a duo of second-place swims in the 100 (57.22) and 200 fly (2:05.29). Borkowska followed suit in the 100 (1:03.17) and 200 breaststroke (2:15.44). 

The 400 free relay title was secured by a team consisting of Tanko, Miklos, Parsons and Payton with a time of 3:29.09, with a second-place finish with Mylie Bradley, Dunaway, Brown and Lunn with a time of  3:35.40.

In the diving competition, Addy Farman stole the title for NU with a score of 282.60 on the one-meter springboard and a fourth-place finish on the three-meter springboard, with Jordyn Schmucker securing third place with 263.77 on the one-meter board. 

Nebraska will return to action in Omaha, Neb., at the Omaha and South Dakota State double-dual on Saturday, Oct. 17, at 12 p.m. (CT).
