Husker Grad Class Features NCAA Champion, Olympian, 32 All-America Awards

Written byJeff Griesch
Lincoln - An impressive group of 66 Husker student-athletes who achieved at the highest levels both athletically and academically during their college careers will earn degrees this weekend during the University of Nebraska-Lincoln’s commencement ceremonies. Graduate commencement is set for Friday at 3 p.m. at Pinnacle Bank Arena, before undergraduate commencements at PBA on Saturday at 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. The College of Law commencement will be held Saturday at the Devaney Center at 2 p.m.

The elite group of Husker graduates is powered by 12 student-athletes who combined for 32 All-America awards in their college careers. The class features NCAA champion Asher Cohen (Lakewood, Colo.), who was named Nebraska’s Most Outstanding Male Student-Athlete in 2026.

A three-time first-team All-American on still rings, including a gold medal on the event at the 2026 NCAA Championships, Cohen helped the Husker men’s gymnastics team to a fourth-place NCAA finish as a senior. Cohen is also a two-time College Sports Communicators Academic All-American. The biological sciences major will contend for a third Academic All-America honor later this year.

Cohen is joined by teammate Nathan York (Plainfield, Ill.) as All-Americans in the graduating class. York captured first-team All-America honors on parallel bars and pommel horse as a senior at the 2026 NCAA Championships. He was also the 2026 Big Ten champion on parallel bars.

Cohen is one of three Husker May graduates to earn a pair of Academic All-America awards alongside multiple All-America honors in competition during their careers.

Four-time All-American Gena Jorgenson (Aberdeen, S.D.) became the first Husker swimmer in history to earn first-team CSC Academic All-America honors in 2026, after claiming a third-team Academic All-America award in 2025. A three-time first-team All-American in the 1,650 freestyle, Jorgenson finished fourth at the 2026 NCAA Championships after winning the Big Ten title in the event. She will earn her degree as a biological sciences major at Nebraska.

Three-time Nebraska volleyball All-American Bergen Reilly (Sioux Falls, S.D.) will earn her degree as a business and law major at Nebraska. A two-time first-team CSC Academic All-American, Reilly was the 2025 Academic All-American of the Year in volleyball, after leading the Huskers to an undefeated regular season and a Big Ten championship. The AVCA Setter of the Year and the Big Ten Player of the Year in 2025, Reilly is joined by two-time first-team AVCA All-American Andi Jackson (Brighton, Colo.) in Nebraska’s graduating class. Jackson, a communication studies major, will return alongside Reilly to lead the Husker volleyball lineup in 2026.

Taylor Landfair (Plainfield, Ill.) will add another All-American to the Husker volleyball graduating class. The graphic design major was an All-American at Minnesota in 2022.
Four-time NTCA All-American Jillian Martin (Stow, Ohio) adds an impressive resume to the Husker graduating class. The 2025 NTCA Bowler of the Year, Martin earns her degree as a biological sciences major and could contend for Academic All-America honors later this year.

Emma Rhode (Kempton, Pa.) brings more All-America honors than any other Husker to the 2026 class. The 10-time CRCA All-American captured first-team honors in all three disciplines (aggregate, smallbore, air rifle) as a senior while leading the Huskers to a fifth-place finish at the 2026 NCAA Rifle Championships.

Nebraska’s track and field program features a pair of All-America graduates, including two-time indoor shot put All-American and 2024 Paris Olympian Mine de Klerk (Welkom, South Africa) and 2023 relay All-American Kavian Kerr (St. Catherine, Jamaica). Hillevi Carlsson (Falun, Sweden), who was the NCAA Elite 90 Award winner at the 2024 NCAA Outdoor Championships, adds another impressive credential among the 11 track and field/cross country student-athletes (Elli Dahl, Ashriel Dixon, Zoie Ecord, Amelia Flynt, Alea Hardie, Max Herman, Seth Schnakenberg, Grant Wasserman) in the May graduating class.

Nebraska softball’s 2026 Big Ten championship team adds an impressive collection of nine graduates to the class led by Hannah and Lauren Camenzind, Bella Bacon, Katelyn Caneda, Dakota Carter, Hannah Coor, Alina Felix, Ava Kuszak, Talia Tokheim, while the nationally ranked Big Red baseball team contributes five Husker graduates in Jett Buck, Caleb Clark, Grant Cleavinger, Hogan Helligso and Rhett Stokes.

Eight Husker football players also will earn degrees, including Justin Evans, Kevin Gallic, Dane Key, Luke Longval, Elijah Pritchett, Dylan Rogers, Gage Stenger and Riley Van Poppel, while the history-making 2026 Nebraska men’s basketball team contributes three graduates in Jamarques Lawrence, Connor Essegian and Henry Burt.

Five women’s gymnasts (Reese Baechle, Katelyn Barth, Emalee Frost, Allie Gard, Lauren Homecillo), four wrestlers (Cooper Colson, Jagger Condomitti, Blake Cushing, Hayden Mills), three men’s golfers (Davis Johnson, Evan McDermott, Quinn Yost), three more swimmers (Ellee Delcamp, Giulia Marchi, JoJo Randby), two women’s tennis players (Yuzu Miyoshi, Ana Zamburek), women’s basketball captain Callin Hake, soccer player Allie Napora, bowler Kathryn Bowman, women’s golfer Lauren Thiele and rifle competitor Camilla Johannessen round out the list of 66 Husker grads.

The May graduates came from near and far to call Nebraska home during their careers. The group came to Lincoln from 22 states, including 16 native Nebraskans, while eight more Huskers journeyed to Nebraska from eight foreign countries (Canada, Dominican Republic, Italy, Jamaica, Japan, Norway, South Africa, Sweden).

Nebraska continues to feature one of the highest graduation rates in the country, while leading the Big Ten with 376 CSC Academic All-Americans and NCAA Impact Award winners (19) across all sports.
