No. 3 Huskers Head East To Face No. 5 Ohio State

The No. 3-ranked Nebraska Men’s Gymnastics team is traveling to Columbus, Ohio, to face the No. 5-ranked Ohio State Buckeyes in its first Big Ten Conference meet on Jan. 31 at 1 p.m. (CT). The meet is available to stream on B1G+.

Last Time Out
Nebraska earned third place at the Rocky Mountain Open behind Oklahoma and Stanford with a score of 315.500. Nathan York won floor with a 14.000, and he came in third on parallel bars. Max Odden competed in the all-around for the first time in his career and placed fourth overall. Asher Cohen finished third on the rings. Ty Roderiques made his first appearance as a Husker and tied for fifth on the vault alongside Chase Mondi.

Scouting the Competition
The Buckeyes are ranked fifth going into this competition. Ohio State competed in the Stanford Open last weekend. They placed second with a score of 318.050. Drake Andrews was named Big Ten Gymnast of the Week during week 2 of the season after his 79.400 all-around score at the OSU Open. David Ramirez earned a career high in the all-around at the Stanford Open with a score of 79.800.

Honoring a Husker Legend
Nebraska’s assistant men’s gymnastics coach Jim Hartung passed away on January 10, 2026. Hartung, 65, has been an assistant coach for 21 seasons. He was an incredible coach and gymnast. He was Nebraska’s first Nissen-Emery Award winner in 1982. He was also a two-time member of the U.S. Olympic team. Hartung was a Husker legend, and his impact will carry on for years to come.

Ty Roderiques (vault), Wyatt Reynolds (pommel horse), and Sam Rakita (floor and rings) all made their debut as Huskers at the Rocky Mountain Open. 
Nebraska leads with a 43-40 record over Ohio State. 
Alex Nitache and Max Odden will be competing in the Winter Cup in Louisville, Ky., on Feb. 20-22 alongside graduates Taylor Christopulos and Chris Hiser
Ohio State and Nebraska are tied in the rankings on the floor. Both teams are in second place with an average score of 52.400.
