Nebraska Caps Off Another Record Setting Win Over UAB

The No. 11 Nebraska rifle team posted a record-setting score to blow past UAB 4,734-4,597, Saturday afternoon in Lincoln to move to 2-0 on the season.

The team total of 4,734 broke the previous school record of 4,731 set on Jan. 25, 2025.

“Today was a good day on the range," Head Coach Richard Clark said. "The team worked extremely hard in smallbore yielding some really great results both for individuals and the team setting the new smallbore and Aggregate program records. Unfortunately, due to the work we put into smallbore I think our energy ran a little low in air gun causing us to make a few uncharacteristic mistakes. That being said, I am very proud of the way the girls performed today and we will get back to work on Monday to continue climbing higher before hitting the road in a couple weeks.”

Senior Emma Rhode placed first with a score of 1,190. Freshmen Katlyn Sullivan and Carley Seabrooke followed in second and third, posting marks of 1,183 and 1,179, respectively. Sophomore Maddy Moyer (1,178) and Hannah Gallagher (1,171) rounded out the top-five finishers.

The Big Red swept the top five spots in the air rifle to shoot a score of 2,374. Rhode took first with a mark of 597, while Sullivan and Gallagher placed second and third with scores of 593. Seabrooke and Moyer followed in fourth and fifth, shooting scores of 592 each. Corbett (sixth, 591), Mick (seventh, 591), and Johannessen (ninth, 586) finished up the air rifle lineup for Nebraska.

In the smallbore, NU once again swept the top five spots en route to shooting the highest team smallbore score in program history with a score of 2,360. The team smallbore score broke the previous mark of 2,354.

Rhode earned her second individual event title with a score of 593, followed by Sullivan with a score of 590. Perkins also shot a personal best of 590 to place third. Seabrooke placed fourth with a mark of 587, and Moyer placed fifth with a score of 586. Gallagher (seventh, 578), Johannessen (eighth, 576), Corbett (10th, 571) and Mick (12th, 566) rounded out the smallbore lineup for the Big Red.

The Huskers will travel to West Point, N.Y. for a busy weekend, featuring matches on Oct. 25 against No. 2 Kentucky and No. 14 Army, and on Oct. 26 against Kentucky and Mount Aloysius.
