Lincoln - The Nebraska swimming and diving squad bested Omaha 169-73 in an in-State battle on Wednesday evening at the Devaney Natatorium.
The Big Red kicked off the meet with a splash by taking both first and third in the 200-medley relay. Anna Vlachou, JoJo Randby, Beatrix Tanko and Maisie Gilford clocked 1:44.18 to win the event.
Vlachou continued her momentum from the medley relay through the meet in two other races. The sophomore from Athens, Greece posted a 57.18 to win the 100 butterfly and a 24.36 split in the first-place 200 freestyle relay.
Junior Giulia Marchi shined for the Huskers as she recorded a personal-best 10:35.73 to win the 1,000 freestyle. She later clocked 52.78 to finish fourth in the 100 free and contributed to Nebraska’s freestyle relay that finished third.
Maisie Gilford, a junior from England, took an individual title in the 50 freestyle (23.56). Gilford also contributed to both relay wins for the Huskers.
Jenna Brown swam a season-best 1:56.67 in the 200 freestyle to place fourth. The redshirt freshman from Louisville, Ky., later took second in the 500 freestyle (5:19.82).
Caterina Bisiacchi took second in the 100 butterfly with a season-best time of 58.40. The senior from Trieste, Italy also posted a season-best 27.88 with her 50 butterfly split in the medley relay.
Freshman Katy Zboinski clocked a career best time during her sixth-place finish in the 100 butterfly.
In the diving well, Kelsey Clairmont led the Huskers with two individual titles. The captain posted 289.20 on the three-meter board and 271.80 on the one-meter to take the win in both events. Nettie Knapton scored a 283.95 to earn second place on the three-meter and finished fourth on one-meter (236.10). Frankie Webb took second in the one-meter dive (250.58).
The Huskers are set to head to Delray Beach, Fla. for their Holiday Training trip from January 1 through January 8.
