Sophomore (2024-25)
Vlachou recorded a personal best in the 100 backstroke (56.55) and an 18th place finish in the 50 free (23.42) at the Hawkeye Invitational. She also assisted in a fourth place finish in the 200 medley relay (1:39.86).

In a dual against the South Dakota State Jackrabbits, Vlachou recorded a sixth place finish in the 200 free (2:03.26) and assisted in the first place 400 medley relay (3:54.21) finish. 

Vlachou added to Nebraska’s impressive win against the Kansas Jayhawks (Nov. 1) by delivering a fourth-place finish in the 100 fly (56.60) and a sixth-place finish in the 50 freestyle (24.14). She also contributed to the third-place finish in the 400 free relay (3:27.08) alongside teammates JoJo Randby, Riley Miklos and Jazmyn Lunn.

Anna Vlachou logged a fifth-place finish in the 50 free (25.35) in a dual against the Iowa State Cyclones (Oct. 25) in the Devaney Natatorium.

Vlachou logged a sixth-place finish in the 50 freestyle (24.69) and a seventh-place finish in the 100 freestyle (53.46) in a dual against the Iowa Hawkeyes (Oct. 18). She also swam as legs in the 400 freestyle relay (3:35.20) and the 200 medley relay (1:44.81). 

Anna Vlachou opened her second season with the Huskers by tying for seventh in the 100 freestyle (54.60) in a double-dual with No. 24 Minnesota and South Dakota. 

Freshman (2023-24)
Vlachou had a strong first season as a Husker, contributing both individually and in relay events. The freshman from Athens, Greece qualified for the 100 butterfly C final at the Big Ten Championships with a prelim time of 54.32. She took 21st in the final (54.14).

Vlachou logged her career-best time in the event in a time trial at the Mizzou Last Chance Meet (53.90). At the mid-season Hawkeye Invitational, Vlachou set a career-best time of 50.49 in the 100 freestyle prelim to qualify for the final, where she finished third (50.57).

She added a pair of eighth-place finishes in the 200 freestyle and 100 butterfly and a 12th-place finish in the 50 freestyle. In a dual with Rutgers (Feb. 2-3), Vlachou grabbed a runner-up finish in the 100 butterfly (54.13) and placed third in the 100 freestyle (51.19).

Vlachou was a consistent contributor to NU’s relay success and was a part of four winning relays this season. She helped the 400 medley relay to an eighth-place finish at the Big Ten Championships. The group finished in 3:37.60 for the third-fastest time in NU history.

Before Nebraska
Vlachou is from Athens, Greece. She attended 2o GEL Argyroupolis and competed for Olympiacos club team. Vlachou earned Best Female Athlete in the 2023 Greek Junior Swimming Championships. She competed in the semifinals at the European Junior Swimming Championships in 2022 (100 fly) and 2023 (50 fly), after qualifying for the championships in 2021.   

Personal
The daughter of Dimitrios Vlachos and Christina Rizou, Anna was born on Feb. 14, 2005. She has one brother, Stefanos. Anna, who is majoring in hospitality, restaurant and tourism management, earned a spot on the Nebraska Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll in the fall of 2023. She also was named to the 2024 Tom Osborne Citizenship Team for her commitment to service in the Lincoln community. Some of her hobbies include hiking and crochet-knitting.
