Huskers Place Third in Colorado

Colorado Springs, Colo. - The No. 14 Nebraska rifle team claimed third place (4,636) in its meet today in Colorado Springs, Colo., against No. 3 Kentucky (4,686), No. 4 Air Force (4,674) and No. 19 UTEP (4,560).
 
The Huskers posted a team score of 2,273 in smallbore, led by senior Samantha Peterson's mark of 577. Peterson claimed fifth place overall in smallbore. Junior Emily Cheramie followed with 568 for NU, with Elena Flake adding 567. Trinity Gomez and Kinga Aletto both fired 561 to round out the Huskers. Although not squadded, Mari Butler fired 560.
 
Nebraska produced a team score of 2,363 in air rifle. Macey Way was out front with 594, followed closely by Flake with 593. Peterson and Cheramie added 589 and 587, respectively. Kinga Aletto (580) completed the Huskers' squadded effort.
 
Kentucky fired a team score of 2,309 in smallbore, led by Mary Tucker's 584. Tucker led the Wildcats to a 2,377 air rifle score with a mark of 598. Air Force fired a team score of 2,315 in smallbore, led by Peter Fiori's 587. Logan Ogden helped lead the Falcons to a 2,356 air rifle score with a mark of 593. UTEP fired a team score of 2,243 in smallbore, led by Morgahn Warner's mark of 571. The Miners fired 2,317 in air rifle, led by Jonna Warnken's 587.
