Game Notes

Nebraska has won its seventh straight game - tying the longest winning streak of the season for the Huskers.  Kaylan Jablonski went 3-for-4 to extend her hitting streak to eight games.  Alyvia Simmons has a hit in the last four games - her longest streak of the season. She also has reached base the last seven games, which her the longest of the season. Kaylan Jablonski had three hits against GCU, tying her career best.  Laura Barrow had two RBIs - a season best.

Fullerton, Calif. - The Nebraska softball team (18-7) picked up its seventh straight win after topping Grand Canyon, 4-1, in its first of two games Friday afternoon. 

Kaylan Jablonski improved to 11-5 on the season. She pitched a complete game and gave up one run on eight hits. She also had one strikeout.

Jablonski also led the Huskers on offense, going 3-for-4, with one run. Alyvia Simmons had two hits, while Ally Riley and Madi Unzicker each had one hit for the Huskers.

Brianna Bguilar dropped to 8-9 on the season. She pitched a complete six-inning game, giving up four runs on seven hits. She also had five strikeouts and four walks. 

Nebraska wasted no time, scoring one run in the first inning. Simmons hit a leadoff single and Jablonski hit a one-out single to the left side to put two runners on for Madi Unzicker. Unzicker drew a four-pitch walk to load the bases for Riley. Riley hit a sac fly to score Simmons. Jablonski stole third and Unzicker stole second to put both baserunners in scoring position. Barrow was walked to load the bases again, but a strikeout ended the inning.

The Antelopes threatened in the top of the second, getting a runner on third after a single, a fielder's choice and another single, but the Huskers got out of the inning without allowing a run. 

In the bottom of the third, the Huskers loaded the bases with one out after a hit from Jablonski, a walk by Madi Unzicker and a hit batter. A groundout to second got the batter out, but scored Jablonski to give the Huskers another run. NU led 2-0 after three. 

In the top of the fourth, the Lopes got runners on the corners with two outs after a double, a flyout and a walk. The Huskers got out of the inning though, with another flyout. 

NU scored two more in the bottom of the fifth. Back-to-back singles from Jablonski and Madi Unzicker put two runners on with one out. A double from Riley scored Rylie Unzicker, who was pinch running for Jablonski. A sac fly from Barrow scored Madi Unzicker and gave the Huskers a 4-0 lead. 

In the bottom of the sixth, the Big Red knocked on the door, putting two runners in scoring position with two outs. Taylor Otte drew a walk and Simmons singled. Tristen Edwards grounded out to first, but moved both runners over, but a strikeout ended the inning. 

The Lopes made a comeback effort in the top of the second with a leadoff single, followed by another single. A fielder's choice put runners on the corners and got the runner out at second. A sac fly got another out, but scored the first run for the Lopes. Another single brought the tying run to the plate, but the Huskers ended the game with a groundout.
