Lincoln - Six Nebraska women's bowlers claimed academic honors from the National Tenpin Coaches Association in 2011-12.
Junior Kristi Mickelson led the strong group of Huskers in the classroom by capturing second-team NTCA All-Academic honors. The junior from Bellevue, Neb., who was a third-team All-American on the lanes during the year, earned a spot on the NTCA All-Academic Team for the third time in her career.
Ontario, Canada native Valerie Calberry earned third-team NTCA All-Academic honors. The senior also claimed honorable, mention All-America honors in competition during the season.
Sophomore Amanda Burau, redshirt freshman Sebrina Divis, freshman Nicole Lape, and junior Shalima Zalsha earned NTCA All-Academic honorable mention as well.
The NTCA honors 15 student-athletes with first-team, second-team, and third-team honors. Student-athletes are eligible for recognition if they compile a minimum 3.40 GPA.
