Lincoln, Neb.- The Nebraska track and field team completed the first day of competition at the K.T. Woodman Classic on the campus of Wichita State University on Friday evening.
In the women's 1,500 meter run, Erica Hamik notched a fifth-place finish behind a time of 4:43.48. Sarah Plambeck followed her lead with a personal-best time of 4:48.01 to finish eighth, while Jelena Andjelkovic took 14th with a time of 4:53.37. On the men's side, Trevor Vidlak finished second in the 1,500 meters with a personal-best time of 3:52.04, and Jarren Heng followed him with a third-place finish and a personal-best time of 3:52.47. Tommy Brinn came in sixth-place behind a personal-best time of 3:55.54, as Connor Gibson finished seventh, recording a time of 3:57.50.
Sarah Larson notched a third-place finish in the women's 5,000 meters, recording a time of 18:15.37. Jessica Wright took home a sixth-place finish with a time of 18:46.80.
In the women's javelin throw, Veronica Grizzle finished fourth with a throw of 134-04 (40.94). Landon Nelson finished 10th in the men's javelin throw after recording a mark of 174-00 (53.03).
The Huskers continue competition at the K.T. Woodman Classic tomorrow with the action starting with the women's hammer throw at 10:30 a.m.
