Huskers Complete Action at Tyson Invitational

Fayetteville, Ark. - The Huskers completed the second day of competition at the Tyson Invitational with solid outings from Anna Weigandt in the triple jump and multiple Husker throwers.

Weigandt started off the day for the Husker women with a second-place finish in the triple jump. She used a personal-best mark of 41-5 1/4 (12.63) to vault her to second behind Radiance Baden of South Carolina, who recorded a jump of 42-3 1/4 (12.88).  

Chris Phipps posted the top finish for the Husker men in the triple jump, recording a season-best mark of 51-9 1/4 (15.78) and placing fourth. Patrick Raedler followed close behind with a sixth-place finish on a personal-best leap of 51-0 1/4 (15.55).

In the women's weight throw, Victoria Zimmerman finished fourth with a throw of 61-4 3/4 (18.71) to lead the Huskers in the event. Jade Siegel took sixth on a season-best toss of 58-0 1/2 (17.69). Veronica Grizzle and Annie Jackson finished 15th and 16th, respectively. Grizzle recorded a mark of 54-1 1/4 (16.49), while Jackson posted a throw of 53-0 3/4 (16.17). Carter Wasem led the men in the weight throw with a fourth-place finish, notching a throw of 58-7 1/2 (17.87). Matt Giesselmann followed his lead, finishing fifth on a season-best mark of 58-5 3/4 (17.82).

Erik Sutterfield finished fourth in the men's pole vault championship with a personal-best vault of 17-1 (5.21).  

Nebraska returns home next weekend as the Huskers host the Nebraska Tune-Up on Friday, Feb. 17 at the Devaney Center Indoor Track.
