The Nebraska rifle team continued their spring season on Saturday in Colorado Springs, Colo. The Huskers were toppled by the Air Force Falcons, falling by a combined score of 4,614-4566. The team shot their way to a 2,254 in smallbore and 2,312 in air rifle.
"It didn't go as we had hoped," Head Coach Morgan Hicks said. "It's hard for me to see those results, as I know how well we practiced this week."
Sophomores Janine Dutton and Joyce Kim fired identical air rifle scores of 581 to lead the Big Red in the discipline. NU's top smallbore shooters on the day were freshman Sunny Russell and senior Ryann McGough, who posted marks of 565.
Dutton was the leader on the range for Nebraska on Saturday, shooting a combined score of 1,144. She was closely followed by Kim, who notched 1,142 points for NU.
"Next is a home match, and we should do better," Hicks said.
Nebraska is now 3-7 on the season. The team will have a two week break before taking on UTEP defending national-champion TCU beginning Feb. 5. Both matches are scheduled to begin at 8 a.m. at the NU Rifle Range
