Huskers Fall to Rebels

Murray, Ky.-Nebraska kicked off the second half of their rifle season on Sunday, Jan. 16 with a match against Mississippi. Unfortunately, the Huskers were not able to pull out the victory, as they fell to the Rebels by a combined score of 4,573-4,622. The team shot an air rifle score of 2,324 and a smallbore score of 2,249.

Katie Kostal was the top shooter for the Huskers on the day, as she led NU in both disciplines with a combined score of 1,148. Her smallbore score of 565 and air rifle score of 583 were both good for fourth place overall.

Following close behind Kostal was teammate Janine Dutton, whose combined score of 1,146 was the second-highest for Nebraska. She posted scores of 564 in smallbore and 582 in air rifle to take the fifth place position in both events.

The loss drops NU to 3-5 on the season.  They will have the opportunity to rebound on the range tomorrow against Nebraska Head Coach Morgan Hicks' alma mater, Murray State. That match is scheduled to begin at 8 a.m.
