Morgantown, W.Va.-The University of Nebraska rifle team won one and lost one this weekend to conclude their fall campaign. The Huskers are now 3-4 on the season.
"We had a productive weekend," Head Coach Morgan Hicks said. "We still need higher scores, but we will take a break and come back after the holidays ready for the spring."
NU started their weekend on Saturday with a match against North Carolina State. Nebraska took home a victory by a score of 4,600-4,513 to snap a three-match losing skid. The Huskers shot 2,329 in air rifle and 2,271 in smallbore on the day.
Ryann McGough was tops for the Huskers on the range on Saturday, firing her way to a combined score of 1,159. Janine Dutton was the number two shooter for the Big Red, shooting a 1,154.
The Huskers were led by Dutton in air rifle. Her impressive score of 589 led both the Huskers and the meet in the discipline. In smallbore, Joyce Kim was top for the Huskers, shooting 568 on Saturday.
On Sunday, the Huskers took the range against West Virginia. Unfortunately, NU fell in this match to the Mountaineers by a score of 4,656-4,592. Nebraska posted a 2,318 in air rifle and 2,274 in smallbore.
Ryann McGough again led the Huskers on the range with a combined score of 1,155. Her score of 574 was also the top score for NU in smallbore.
Janine Dutton was the number two shooter for Nebraska, shooting a combined score of 1,149. Her score of 585 in air rifle was the best for the Huskers on Sunday.
This weekend wraps up Nebraska's fall season. They will take the range again on Jan. 16-17 with matches against Ole Miss and Murray State in Murray, Ky. Both matches will start at 8 a.m.
