Nebraska City - Senior Mike Coatman closed out his second round at Arbor Links on Tuesday with a 68, giving him a three-under 141 total that was good enough for individual medalist honors at the 2010 Fairway Club Invitational. As a team the Huskers shot 582 (+6) in the two-round tournament that was shortened due to Monday's thunderstorms.
Nebraska came in with the best team score of the day with 286 strokes but it wasn't enough to catch UMKC, who finished six shots ahead of NU.
Andrew Wyatt and Scott Willman tied for 13th overall, with each of them shooting two-over 146. Wyatt fired a 2-under 70 today, while Willman shot a 74.
Brett Nymeyer came in with a 74 to make his two-day total 149. Austin Zimmerman rounded out the team scores with a 153 after today's round of 75. Freshman Manuel Lavin led the individuals, shooting a 2-under 70 for a 148 total, which put him in a tie for 18th in his second event as a Husker.
Coatman matched his lowest career round but he won his first individual title for NU. He first shot 68 at the 2010 Jackrabbit Invitational when he tied for seventh.
The Huskers return to action at the Kansas Invitational on Sep. 20-21.
