Huskers Hunt for Third Straight Title

The Nebraska bowling team traveled to the Holiday Classic this weekend in search of its third-consecutive team title. The Holiday Classic, held at Holiday Bowl Fun Center in Bessemer, Ala., began at 10 a.m. today and will conclude after Sunday's match play starting at 8 a.m.

Seven Huskers made the trip to the Holiday Classic, including Cassandra Leuthold, who captured last weekend's Morgan State Invitational individual title. Valerie Calberry, Kristina Mickelson, Katie Ann Sopp, Kayla Stram, Danielle van der Meer and Shalima Zalsha will also compete for the Huskers this weekend

Twelve teams are slated to compete this weekend, including Nebraska, Alabama A&M, Central Missouri, Stephen F. Austin, Vanderbilt, Sacred Heart, Arkansas State, Maryland-Eastern Shore, Florida A&M, Grambling State, Bethune Cookman and Mississippi Valley State.

Following this weekend's competition, the Huskers will have a two-week break before traveling to Nashville, Tenn., for the Music City Classic, which is NU's last regular-season competition. The 2010 NCAA Championships will be held on April 8-10 at North Brunswick, N.J.
