Oxford, Miss. - Janine Dutton finished second in the overall combined standings, and the Nebraska rifle team finished third at the GARC Championships with a team score of 4,612 Sunday afternoon.
Dutton matched her career-best 593 in air rifle and contributed a career-best 579 in smallbore to finish at 1,172 overall. West Virginia's Nicco Campriani took the title with a 1,187. The No. 1-ranked Mountaineers also earned their first team title since 2000 with a team score of 4,653. Kentucky finished second at 4,645.
For the Huskers, Amanda Jeffries added a 583 in air rifle, Joyce Kim a 578 and Ryann McGough a 574. In smallbore, Christine Costello earned a 574, while McGough shot 567 and Jeffries scored a 564 to round out the NU lineup.
Competing as individuals, Kim scored a 572 in smallbore, while Katie Kostal added a 567. In air rifle, Costello scored an impressive 585, while Kostal scored a 578 and Sheena Mahloch added a 575.
The Huskers now await official word on their qualification to the NCAA Championships, held March 12-13 in Fort Worth, Texas. NU is eighth in the national standings, and eight teams qualify for the championships.
