Eight members of the Nebraska women’s tennis team earned a spot on the Big 12 Commissioner’s Spring 2009 Honor Roll, released on Monday, June 15. The Honor Roll recognizes student-athletes that post at least a 3.0 GPA during the spring 2009 semester.
All three seniors on the Husker squad ? Marianne Cicmanec, Ashley Finnegan and Maria Ring ? were named to the Honor Roll. It was the fifth nomination for Cicmanec and sixth for Finnegan in their careers.
Sophomores Abby Buxton and Stephanie Evans earned spots, as well as freshmen Madeleine Geibert, Jennifer Holmberg and Mary Weatherholt.
Finnegan, Geibert and Holmberg were among 52 Nebraska student-athletes who posted a perfect 4.0 GPA during the semester.
A total of 302 Nebraska student-athletes earned a spot on the Spring 2009 Honor Roll. Nebraska’s representation on the spring honor roll marked a nearly 12 percent increase over last spring, when 270 Huskers earned honor roll spots. Along with the 32 additional members of this year’s spring honor roll, 16 more Huskers posted 4.0 GPAs compared to last spring.
