2011-12: Senior
One of just two seniors on Nebraska's eight-player roster, Jennifer Holmberg provided depth, versatility and leadership to the Husker lineup in 2011-12. The native of Tampere, Finland, posted a 6-3 singles mark in the spring of 2012, including a 2-2 record in Big Ten Conference action. She added a 10-4 doubles record, including a 1-2 mark against Big Ten foes.

She capped her senior season with a pair of straight-set wins at No. 6 singles against Minnesota and Wisconsin last weekend. Her 6-3, 6-1 victory over Minnesota's Yuliana Umanets came on Senior Day in Lincoln, when she was honored for her contributions to the Husker program over the past four years. She added a 6-0, 6-1 win over Wisconsin's Lauren Gruber in the No. 6 spot to close the regular season.

Overall, Holmberg finished with a 54-39 career singles mark and a 62-35 career doubles record. Her 116 career combined wins ranked near Nebraska's all-time top 10.

Holmberg's first two Big Ten appearances came early in the conference season with losses to Illinois' Rachael White (March 23) and Northwestern's Stacey Lee (March 25). Holmberg's last six singles appearances have come at the No. 6 spot, after winning her first two matches of the spring at the No. 5 spot in straight sets against Marcela Rivero of Eastern Michigan and Krissy Lankelma of Northern Iowa.

In doubles action, Holmberg paired with Janine Weinreich for an 8-3 doubles mark this spring, including a 3-0 mark at No. 2 and a 5-3 record at No. 3. Holmberg and Weinreich teamed for an 8-4 win over Iowa's Ellen Silver and Katie Zordani at the No. 3 spot, but dropped matches to Illinois and Northwestern in their only other Big Ten appearances together. Holmberg also paired with Maike Zeppernick for a 2-1 doubles record at the No. 3 spot this season.

Holmberg was the 2010 Big 12 No. 6 Singles Champion and a 2010 Big 12 No. 3 Doubles Champion. One of seven Huskers to claim academic All-Big Ten honors in 2012, Holmberg was a two-time first-team academic All-Big 12 selection.

2010-11: Junior
Holmberg mainly saw playing time at the No. 5 and 6 singles positions for Nebraska as a junior, though she did add a 2-0 record at the No. 4 spot. After a strong 9-2 start in the spring, Holmberg was sidelined temporarily with an injury suffered against Oklahoma State in late March. She battled through the injury to return to the lineup two weeks later, helping Nebraska during their stretch run to the postseason. Holmberg finished the year with an overall singles mark of 14-10.

Holmberg was also a mainstay in NU's doubles lineup, seeing most of her court time in the No. 3 slot next to Maike Zeppernick. The duo posted a spring record of 5-3 and a 2-2 finish in Big 12 action.

Off the court, Holmberg earned first-team academic All-Big 12 honors, while claiming a spot on the Big 12 Commissioner's Honor Roll during the fall semester. She helped the tennis program win Nebraska's Herman Award, presented annually to the Husker women's team across all sports with the top GPA for the past academic year.

2009-10: Sophomore
Holmberg had a breakout season in 2009-10, as she put together an overall singles record of 23-10. Coach Scott Jacobson plugged her in the Nos. 4-6 positions in the Huskers’ singles lineup and Holmberg shined, accumulating a team-leading 21 wins in the spring. She capped her season when she captured the Big 12 No. 6 singles championship.

Holmberg also found success on the doubles court for NU, where she posted a record of 24-9 on the season. She hit her stride at the No. 3 position alongside Mary Weatherholt, where the duo accumulated a record of 13-3, including a 9-1 Big 12 mark. In April, Holmberg and Weatherholt were named the Big 12 No. 3 doubles champions.

A standout in the classroom as well, Holmberg earned first-team academic All-Big 12 accolades in 2010, while capturing spots on the Big 12 Comissioner’s Honor Roll in both the fall and spring semesters.

2008-09: Freshman
Holmberg was a solid contributor for the Huskers as a freshman in 2008-09. Her eight singles wins during the spring tied for eighth on the team, and she also racked up 11 doubles victories on the spring campaign. She spent the year rotating between the Nos. 4-6 positions on the singles court. She found most of her success at the No. 5 spot, where she totaled four wins, and was also unbeaten in two matches at the No. 4 spot.

Holmberg played her best tennis during one of the most crucial stretches for Nebraska, as her victory over Alisa Buslaieva of Oklahoma State propelled Nebraska to a 4-3 victory. That team win jump-started a 6-2 finish in NU's final eight matches of the season.

Holmberg was named to the Big 12 Commissioner's Honor Roll in both the fall and spring semesters in 2008-09, earning a perfect 4.0 GPA during both semesters. She was also named an ITA Scholar Athlete, awarded to those who achieve at least a 3.5 GPA during the year.

Before Nebraska
Holmberg was one of the top youth players in Finland before joining the Husker squad. She participated in the European Championships three times, and was a runner-up in the Finalnd national championship three times in singles play. She won doubles championships three times, once each in the 14's, 16's and 18's divisions. Holmberg played at Tammertors High School before coming to Lincoln.

Personal
Jennifer was born on Dec. 19, 1988, in Valkcakoski, Finland, and is the daughter of Axel and Benita Holmberg. Jennifer has one sister, Merete, and one brother, Klos. A business administration major at Nebraska, Jennifer earned her bachelor's degree in August of 2012. She claimed academic All-Big Ten honors as a senior and was a two-time academic All-Big 12 selection. She was also a five-time member of the Big 12 Commissioner's Honor Roll.
