Lincoln- The No. 56 Nebraska women’s tennis team improved to 10-0 and 2-0 in Big 12 Conference play after defeating the Kansas Jayhawks, 6-1, at the Nebraska Tennis Center on Friday, March 13. The Huskers collected the doubles point and never looked back, dropping only one singles match the rest of the match.

“The doubles point was important today,” head coach Scott Jacobson after his teams’ victory.”That really gave us some momentum going into singles"
In singles, Weatherholt (NU) got the Huskers off on the right track after beating Morozova (KU) 6-3, 6-0, at the No. 2 spot. Wiveca Swarting (NU) defeated Yuliana Svistun (KU) at the No. 3 spot and Jennifer Holmberg (NU) defeated Wilbert (KU) at the No. 6 spot to give the Huskers a 4-0 lead. Giebert (NU) finished the day for the Huskers with a three set victory over Horvath (KU) at the No. 1 spot.
Jacobson was pleased with the overall play during the Huskers singles matches.
"In singles, we were tested at a few positions today after building some early leads,” Jacobson said. “Kansas put up a good fight and this could have easily been a 4-3 match. Kansas has a strong team, but our kids fought hard and did well to stay focused in the end and come out on top"
The Huskers return to action on Tuesday, March 17, when they take on San Diego State in San Diego, Calif. First serve is set for 2 p.m.
