No. 2 Huskers Return to Action at Mid-Winter Classic

Lincoln, Neb. - Upon completing a perfect fall season and moving up to second place in the National Tenpin Coaches Association rankings, the Nebraska bowling team returns to action this weekend at the Mid-Winter Classic in Cabot, Ark. The three-day event, which takes place at Allfam Bowling and Entertainment, is slated to begin on Friday, Jan. 16, at 9 a.m. Competition will then start at 9 a.m. on Saturday before wrapping up Sunday morning at 8 a.m.

Twenty teams will be vying for the top spot in the competition, including first-ranked Vanderbilt. Seven Huskers will be competing in the tournament for Nebraska, including juniors Cassie Leuthold and Kaleena Henning, sophomores Katie Ann Sopp and Jasmine Laugerman and newcomers Valerie Calberry, Erin McCarthy and Danielle van der Meer.

After the Mid-Winter Classic, NU will compete in four more regular-season tournaments before hoping to earn its bid to the 2009 NCAA Championship in Detroit, Mich., on April 9-11.
