2009-10 Outlook
Kaleena Henning is one of only two seniors on the 2009-10 squad. Henning's experiences on the 2009 NCAA championship team and the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee will help her provide valuable leadership to the Nebraska bowling team.
2008-09 Review
Henning was named Nebraska's team captain during her junior season. She competed in six tournaments, including the 2009 NCAA Championships, where the Nebraska bowling team captured the 2009 NCAA title. On the regular season, Henning held a 192.30 average over 11 games and rolled a total pinfall of 2,116. Her best finish came at the Capital City Classic, where she earned third place with a pinfall of 214. Henning was awarded the "Zinger Award" at the Nebraska end-of-the-year banquet, an award presented to an NU bowler who exemplifies superior leadership.
2007-08 Review
Henning held a 188.90 average during her sophomore year. She wrapped up her season with honorable-mention NTCA All-Academic accolades and earned two spots on the Big 12 Commissioner's Honor Roll (Fall: 2007; Spring: 2008). During the summer of 2008, Henning also competed at the Junior Gold event where she placed 22nd out of 472 competitors.
Before Nebraska
Hailed as one of the most successful junior bowlers in Nebraska, Henning entered the Husker bowling program with years of junior bowling experience in 14 states. Among her numerous awards, Henning won the prestigious Nebraska Bowler-of-the-Year award for a record 12 consecutive years (1996-2007). In 2001, Henning became the youngest girl to win girl's scratch division at the Coca -Cola international-level tournament at age 14. During the 2004-05 season, Henning was named to the Nebraska High School first- and second-select team.
Personal
The daughter of Greg and Suzanne Henning, Kaleena was born on Nov. 11, 1986, in North Platte, Neb. Kaleena will graduate in December with a sociology degree before starting graduate school in the spring semester. Kaleena and her fiance, Brian, plan to wed in 2011.
