2009-10 Outlook
Sophomore Erin McCarthy was a regular in the 2008-09 Nebraska lineup and will provide depth to this season's team. McCarthy continued to develop experience in the offseason, as she placed second at the Iowa Junior Tour in August of 2009.

"Erin's best years are in front of her," Nebraska Coach Bill Straub said. "We think that she will be a big help to us for a lot of years to come."

2008-09 Review
McCarthy was one of two outstanding Husker freshmen to make an immediate impact for the 2008-09 Nebraska bowling team. McCarthy began her freshman campaign with a first-place finish at the Capital City Collegiate Classic. McCarthy's season-high average of 236 during the Capital City Collegiate Classic was the best average among any Husker during the 2008-09 season. McCarthy also earned a second-place finish at the Morgan State Invitational with a 205 average. McCarthy ended the regular season with a 192.60 average over 40 games and a pinfall of 7,705. McCarthy wrapped up her stellar freshman season with a 2009 NCAA Championship appearance.

Before Nebraska
Nebraska native McCarthy joined the Huskers after a long history of success on the Nebraska high school bowling scene. She gained valuable development skills at both Millard North High School and from former Husker Jamie Martin. McCarthy was a two-time all-state captain in 2007 and 2008 and earned prestigious bowler-of-the-year honors for her 299 game in 2007. She was also a member of the all-star team for the city of Omaha. McCarthy won the North Pointe Invitational in the spring of 2008, a tournament only available to graduating high school seniors, defeating a field filled with some of the top high school bowlers in the nation.
