White Outlasts Red 121-110

Lincoln ? The Nebraska track and field team capped fall practice on Friday night at the Devaney Center Indoor Track with the annual Red vs. White Intrasquad meet, the two teams combined to break five meet records. The White Team, which was coached by Administrative Assistant Da’Nelle Earl, downed Director of Operations T.J. Pierce’s Red Team, 121-110.

 

Seth Burney was arguably the top performer of the night as he thrilled the crowd with a new meet record in the pole vault with a mark of 17-7. Burney’s vault broke 2003 outdoor national champion Eric Eshbach’s previous record of 17-6, set in 2002.

 Wahoo, Neb., native Adam Dailey set a new meet bests in the 600-yard (1:11.19) and 800-meter (1:54.82) runs, breaking Andrew Pearson’s time of 1:11.41 in the 600 yards, which was set at last year’s meet, and Danny Hill’s five-year old record of 1:56.11 in 800 meters.

Freshman Blaire Dinsdale started her Husker career on the right foot with a meet record in the 600-yard run with a time of 1:24.92. Dinsdale broke fellow Iowan and teammate Ashley Miller’s record of 1:26.13 from last year’s meet.

Lehann Fourie won the 60-meter hurdle final with a 7.82, breaking Courtney Jones’ record set in 2005.

 

The Huskers will now continue to prepare for the opening of the 2009 indoor season. The Big Red will open at home on Jan. 16 and 17 with the Holiday Inn Invitational. Throughout the 2009 indoor season fans will have plenty of opportunities to catch the Huskers as they will host six indoor meets. Check Huskers.com for more information.
