Lehann Fourie (pronounced Lee-HON FOUR-ee) earned first-team All-America honors in both 60-meter hurdles and 110-meter hurdles in his final season at Nebraska...finished seventh in the 60-meter hurdles at the NCAA Indoor Championships with a time of 7.84...placed sixth at the NCAA Outdoor Championships in the 110-meter hurdles with his time of 13.68...was the Big 12 runner-up in the 110-meter hurdles with a school-record wind-legal time of 13.44, and was also eighth in the 400-meter hurdles (51.97)...placed third in the 60-meter hurdles at the Big 12 meet, finishing in 7.68.
2009 (Sophomore/Junior)
Fourie earned his first trip to the NCAA Indoor Championships in 2009 after competing at the outdoor meet in 2008... started the indoor season with a third-place finish in the 60-meter hurdles at the Holiday Inn Invitational, before posting back-to-back wins at the Conference Challenge and adidas Classic... placed second at the ISU Classic with a personal-best time of 7.75, which tied him with teammate Kirkland Thornton for the No. 3 performance all-time at NU indoors... earned All-Big 12 honors at the indoor conference meet for the second straight year with a third-place time of 7.78... ended the indoor season in College Station, Texas, with a 10th-place showing at the national meet... opened the outdoor season by shattering his previous best of 13.93 in the 110-meter hurdles with a winning time of 13.84 at the Baldy Castillo Invitational... improved the time even more the following week at the Jim Click Shootout with another winning time of 13.76... placed second at the John McDonnell Invitational after running a wind-aided best of 13.57 in the prelims... took second in the 110 and 400 hurdles at the Big 12 Outdoor Championships, clearing a then-personal best of 13.68 in the 110 hurdles and a personal best of 51.22 in the 400 hurdles... missed out on a trip to the NCAA Outdoor Championships after he was disqualified in the 110-hurdle finals for touching a hurdle... went on to compete internationally in the 110 hurdles following the collegiate season... took silver at the World University Games in Belgrade, Serbia, running a personal best of 13.56, the No. 3 performance all-time at NU outdoors... was selected by his home country of South Africa to compete at the IAAF World Championships in Berlin, Germany, where he placed 24th out of 45 hurdlers.
2008 (Freshman/Sophomore)
Fourie had an outstanding first year at Nebraska, as he became a top-12 performer all-time at Nebraska in the indoor 60-meter hurdles and the outdoor 110-meter hurdles... finished runner-up in the 60-meter hurdles at three of four meets during the indoor season, including the Big 12 Indoor Championships... ran a then-personal best of 7.80 at the adidas Classic to finish second... started the outdoor season with a win in the 110-meter hurdles at the Jim Click Shootout... came away with a victory the following week at the John Jacobs Invitational (13.94)... finished second at the Drake Relays with a wind-aided time of 13.71... was unable to compete at the Big 12 Outdoor Championships due to a hamstring injury... earned an at-large bid to the NCAA Outdoor Championships in the 110-meter hurdles, but failed to finish the preliminaries due to a hamstring injury.
Before Nebraska (Afrikaans Boys HS/North-West University)
Fourie became the third South African athlete to attend Nebraska since 2007... transferred from North-West University in Pochefstroom, South Africa... coached by Hennie Kotzé... had a best clocking of 13.74 over IAAF junior hurdles (99.5 cm/39”) to win the South African Junior Championships in Pretoria... hurdled a career-best 14.12 over the IAAF hurdles (106.7 cm/42”) in winning the 2006 South African University Championships after blazing a wind-aided 13.91 in the prelims... was third in the 2005 African Junior Championships (14.23) in Rádes, Tunisia... participated in the prelims of the 2006 World Junior Championships in Beijing, China, but did not advance after posting a 14.25 in the prelims.
