Lincoln-- The Nebraska women’s gymnastics team begins preparations for the 2009 season with intrasquad meets on Thursday, Nov. 20, at Mable Lee Hall from 2-5 p.m., and Saturday, Dec.13 at 6 p.m. at the Bob Devaney Sports Center. Both events are free and open to the public.
The Huskers will perform routines on every event in Olympic order, beginning with vault, uneven bars, balance beam and floor exercise for the Dec. 13 Intrasquad.
Nebraska returns seven letterwinners, including All-Americans Tricia Woo and Kylie Stone. Nebraska also boasts All-Big 12 selections Brittney Williams and Kathryn Howard, as well as Maria Scaffidi, Erin Davis and Brittnee Habbib. Freshmen Stephanie Seich, Lora Evenstad, Kristin Fyffe, Kassandra Nathe, Claire Stingley and Kailey Ryan will also make their Husker debuts.
The Huskers open the 2009 season on Jan. 10 at Denver. Nebraska then opens its home schedule against Penn State on Jan. 30 at 7 p.m. Nebraska plays host to the NCAA Championships April 16-18.
