20 Huskers Named to Big 12 Honor Roll

Lincoln? Twelve women and eight men achieved at least a 3.0 grade-point average or higher during the 2007 spring semester to place a total of 20 cross country runners on the Big 12 Commissioner’s Honor Roll, announced Tuesday by the Big 12 Conference.

Four Huskers - senior Kim Pancoast, juniors Joslyn Dalton and Betsy Miller and freshman Bryce Somer - led Nebraska by attaining perfect 4.0 GPA’s. For Dalton, it was the second consecutive 4.0 semester and fifth award overall during her career, while Somer made his first appearance on the Big 12 Honor Roll on the men’s side.

Sophomore Kyle Custer, who was the lone male runner to be named to the honor roll in the fall of 2006, made a return to the list, in addition to three athletes from both the freshmen and senior classes.

In addition to having three 4.0 GPA’s, the women’s team featured nine other Huskers who gained the honor, including former Nebraska runners Michaela Lenihan and Kayte Tranel. Former men’s runner Aaron Nasers was awarded, as well.

A total of 255 Nebraska student-athletes across all sports claimed spots on the Big 12 Commissioner's Spring Academic Honor Roll, including 46 who achieved a 4.0 grade-point average.

Overall for the academic year, Nebraska student-athletes earned 525 spots on the Big 12 fall and spring honor rolls, including 79 perfect 4.0 semesters.
