Nebraska Wins Third Dual of Weekend

The No. 3 Nebraska wrestling team finished a 3-0 weekend with a 25-16 victory over Boise State Sunday at Centennial High School in Meridian, Idaho.

"We wrestled very aggressively this weekend," said coach Mark Manning. "We wrestled better this weekend than we have all year. We continue to get better, and that’s very satisfying to me as a coach."

Like the previous two duals this weekend, the Huskers took control early. NU won the first four matches of the dual, starting with a pin by 165-pound wrestler Jacob Klein of Russell Brunson 4:21 into their match, giving Klein his third bonus-point victory of the weekend. Marc Harwood followed Klein’s performance with a 5-0 win over Ben Gilliland in the 174-pound match. At 184 pounds, Travis Pascoe won his third match of the weekend, defeating Casey Phelps, 4-2. B.J. Padden was awarded the win at 197 pounds by injury default over K.C. Walsh.

After a pair of setbacks in the heavyweight and 125 pound matches, Nebraska clinched their fifth straight dual victory of the season with victories from Dominick Moyer and Matt Murray. Moyer defeated Scott Jorgensen at 133 pounds, 9-2, while Murray earned his second bonus-point win of the road trip with a 14-6 major decision over Jacob Scoles. With the dual in hand, NU was defeated in the 149- and 157-pound matches.

Murray, Klein and Pascoe all finished the weekend 3-0.

The Huskers are now 5-0 in duals on the season. Their next action comes on Dec. 18, when they entertain Dana College, Wyoming and Findlay in the Nebraska Duals at the NU Coliseum. Nebraska’s matches will be available via streaming video on HuskersNside.
