Football Places 84 Players on Big 12 Commissioner?s Honor Roll

Lincoln ? A total of 84 Husker football players were honored this week with selection to the 2003 Big 12 Commissioner’s Academic Honor Roll. They were among 286 Nebraska student-athletes who were recognized for their success in the classroom.

The Big 12 Commissioner’s Honor Roll recognizes all student-athletes who earned a 3.0 grade-point average or better in the previous semester. Among Nebraska’s 286 student-athletes named to the fall honor roll, 26 produced perfect 4.0 grade-point averages during the fall semester, including nine members of the football team.

Football players who earned a perfect 4.0 in the fall semester included senior linebacker Chad Buller (graduate studies), sophomore quarterback Garth Glissman (political science), junior cornerback Kellen Huston (exercise science), sophomore defensive end Nathan Krug (exercise science), redshirt freshman center Kurt Mann (mechanized systems management), senior tight end Phil Peetz (graduate studies), senior cornerback Pat Ricketts (graduate studies), junior linebacker Chad Sievers (business administration) and redshirt freshman fullback Dane Todd (biological sciences). Mann, Sievers and Todd all maintain perfect 4.0 cumulative grade-point averages.

Senior fullback Judd Davies was named to the commissioner’s honor roll for the ninth time--each semester of his college career at Nebraska. Buller, Ricketts, Peetz and senior cornerback Kevin Guse were each named to the honor roll for the eighth time, while eight other Huskers have made the honor roll seven times.
