Husker Women Second at Blue and Gold Classic

The Nebraska women's bowling team finished second thies weekedn at the Blue and Gold Classic held at the Beacon Bowl in South Bend, Ind.

Central Missouri State won by only 33 pins, with the final frame of competition being the deciding factor.  Anchor bowler Shannon Pluhowsky needed to strike in the first ball in the tenth frame to move the Huskers past Central Missouri State.  Pluhowsky threw a good shot, but was unable to carry.

Junior Kari Schwager from Montgomer, Ill., led the Huskers with a 199 average, followed by senior Diandra Hyman averaging 188 and sophomore Pluhowsky averaging 182.

The Huskers will next be in action Feb. 2-3, in Las Vegas, Nev., at the Brunswick Coca-Cola Collegiate Open at Castaways Bowling Center.
