Lincoln -- The No. 67 Nebraska women's tennis team improved to 5-2 on the season with a 9-0 victory over Gustavus Adolphus (Minn.) College at the Woods Tennis Center this afternoon. With the win, the Huskers have won five of their last six matches, falling only to No. 4 Texas during that span.
Nebraska swept all six singles matches in straight sets. Sophomore Sandra Noetzel improved to 5-2 on the season at No. 1 singles with a 6-2, 6-0 victory over Lisa Broughten. At No. 2 singles, senior Jennifer Hart also moved to 5-2 on the year with a 6-4, 6-1 victory Erica Hanson. Senior Jennifer Thoste has a team-best 6-1 mark after a 6-2, 6-4 victory over Megan Donley at third singles. Other singles winners included freshman Ndali Ijomah at No. 4 singles, sophomore Gina Pelazini at No. 5 singles and senior Adriana Dulic at No. 6 singles.
In doubles, the No. 1 doubles team of Noetzel and Thoste improved to 3-2 with an 8-2 win over Lisa Broughten and Megan Donley. Hart and Ijomah remained a perfect 4-0 on the season with an 8-2 win at No. 2 doubles, and Pelazini and Dulic completed the sweep, defeating Misty Redman and Erin James 9-8 (7-2 tiebreaker) at No. 3 doubles.
Gustavus Adolphus, which also lost to Iowa State earlier this season, is 1-2 on the season.
The Huskers return to action on Sunday, March 1, when the Huskers play host to Texas Tech at the Woods Tennis Center beginning at 10 a.m.
