1997-98: Senior
Jennifer Thoste was a mainstay in the Husker lineup as a senior in both singles and doubles play. On the singles court, Thoste posted an impressive 15-7 record at No. 3 singles and picked up another win at No. 4. Her 16 singles wins in the spring ranked second on the team behind fellow senior Lisa Hart's 18 victories. Thoste paired with Sandra Noetzel at No. 1 doubles for 21 matches during the spring, and the duo went on to win a team-high 12 matches. Thoste was also recognized for her work in the classroom, earning first-team academic All-Big 12 honors.
1996-97: Junior
Primarily playing No. 4 singles, Thoste had her best season, compiling a 15-11 record as a junior. After going 2-1 during the fall season, she closed the season on a high note, winning each of her two Big 12 Championship matches in straight sets, including a 6-2, 6-3 victory over Monica St. Miguel, an opponent who defeated Thoste earlier in the spring. Thoste teamed with Sandra Noetzel, a fellow Hannover, Germany, native, to finish 15-6 at No. 1 doubles. The 15 wins tied for the team best, while the duo went 8-5 in in Big 12 matches.
1995-96: Sophomore
Thoste fashioned a 10-10 mark playing both No. 1 and No. 2 singles as a sophomore. At No. 1 singles, she went 6-7 and posted a 4-3 mark at No. 2 singles. In doubles, she teamed with fellow sophomore Lisa Hart in compiling a 5-9 record at No. 1 doubles.
1994-95: Freshman
After coming to Nebraska at the semester break, she went 17-7 at No. 2 singles during the spring season. She also teamed with Michelle Waldhauser in posting a 3-4 mark at No. 3 doubles.
Before Nebraska
One of the two current Huskers who played overseas before coming to Lincoln, Thoste played in Germany, where she ranked 160th nationally.
Personal
A finance major, Thoste was born in Hannover, Germany. The daughter of Monika and Volver Thoste, she has one older sister, Anja. Thoste came to Nebraska on the recommendation of Frauke Hachtmann, a former NU tennis player who hailed from Germany.
