Career Notes
2008-Wrestling at 157 pounds, Plambeck went 5-9, including 1-1 in duals, for Nebraska in 2007-08. He earned one pin. Plambeck began the year on an 0-6 slide, but the Husker earned his first career dual victory with an 8-3 decision over South Dakota State's Martin Konechne on Dec. 7. Plambeck lost a 13-11 decision to Dana's Dan Pray in dual action on Dec. 15, but rebounded with a 4-2 showing at the Brand Open on Jan. 19.
2007-Plambeck was 3-12 in his second year at Nebraska, wrestling most of the year at 157 pounds. Plambeck opened the year competing at 165 pounds at the Cowboy Open on Nov. 11 and the Kaufman-Brand Open on Nov. 18. Plambeck was moved to 157 pounds to fill in for an injured Chris Oliver in four December dual matches.
After Oliver returned to the dual lineup, Plambeck returned to open competition. He notched a 3-2 win over Brian Heiberger of Northwestern College on Jan. 6 at the Dana College Open. Plambeck finished the season with a 2-2 performance at the Glen Brand Open on Jan. 20.
2006-Plambeck finished his redshirt season with a 10-12 record wrestling at 157 pounds. He closed the season with a fourth-place finish at the Brand Open on Jan. 21, after a 2-2 performance at the tournament. It was Plambeck’s third straight tournament in which he finished 2-2. Plambeck ran off three straight wins in the consolation bracket at the Kaufman-Brand Open on Nov. 19 in the 20-and-under division.
Before Nebraska-Plambeck was a three-time state qualifier at Lincoln Christian for Coach Todd Berner. Plambeck helped LCHS to a seventh-place finish at state in 2004. Plambeck, named the outstanding wrestler for LCHS in his senior year, was a four-year letterwinner in wrestling. Plambeck was an honorable-mention all-state performer in football, and earned a letter in track.
Personal-The son of Bob and Martha Plambeck, Rob was born in Omaha, Neb., on July 11, 1985. He was an academic all-state student in high school, and was a member of National Honor Society and the Gold Honor Roll. He has two sisters, Anna and Sarah, and two brothers, Joe and Ben. Plambeck is a biology major.
