Big 12 Championships
2008-Rowe went 1-2 at the 2008 Big 12 Championships to finish fourth. Rowe lost a 2-0 decision to No. 12 Nick Gallick of Iowa State, but rebounded with a 6-1 decision over Missouri's Marcus Hoehn. Rowe was defeated in the consolation final, 3-2, by Oklahoma's Zach Bailey.
Career Notes
2008-Rowe went 9-7, including 3-5 in duals, at 141 pounds during the 2007-08 season. Rowe earned the starting nod at National Duals, as he promptly upset second-ranked Jake Strayer of Penn State, 6-4, in his first match. Rowe lost two close decisions to two more ranked foes at the National Duals, before earning first at the Jimmie Open with five bonus-point wins on Jan. 26. Rowe earned back-to-back Big 12 wins with decisions over Missouri's Marcus Hoehn and Oklahoma's Zach Bailey in early February, before ending the regular season with three-straight losses.
2007-Rowe spent much of the first months of the season in the top 20 at 133 pounds. Rowe opened the year with eight straight wins, including back-to-back dual wins near his home of Huntington, Md., in late November.
2006-Rowe finished 12-4 in his first season of collegiate wrestling, including a pair of top-three finishes in three open tournament appearances. Rowe made his collegiate debut with a second-place finish at the Harold Nichols Open on Nov. 12.
Before Nebraska-A four-time state champion for Coach Dick Messier at DeMatha Catholic High School, Rowe was a three-time national prep champion. He was a four-time first-team all-state wrestler and was twice named the Washington Post’s wrestler of the year. Rowe was a two-time Cadet All-American and finished in the top four three times in the Beast of the East tournament.
Personal-Robert Michael "Mike" Rowe II, the son of Michael and Diane Rowe, was born in Anchorage, Alaska, on July 20, 1987. He has two younger brothers, Hunter (15) and Colton (12). Mike is a psychology major.
