1998 - Bauer completed his junior year, compiling a 20-16 season record, while being 7-7 in dual action. He collected one tech. fall and seven major decisions.
1997- In his first season in the Husker lineup, Bauer wrestled his way to a 24-21 overall record and a 9-12 dual mark. Ten of Bauer's losses came against opponents who were ranked among the top 10 nationally at the time of the match. His 24 wins were the fifth-highest total for the Huskers on the year. He recorded three pins and four major decisions. He finished second at the Great Plains Invitational. Bauer claimed Nebraska's Granite Award, given to each wrestler that competes in every varsity match during the season.
1996- Bauer compiled a 9-7 record in open tournaments, including a third-place finish and five straight wins at the St. Louis Open. He recorded two pins and one major decision.
1995- Bauer redshirted and competed in open tournaments. He finished the season with a 7-7 record. He placed fourth at the Nebraska-Kearney Open and finished with one major decision.
Other- Bauer was a member of Nebraska's third-ranked 1994 recruiting class. Bauer was a two-time state champion at Bismarck High School, where he was a teammate of Husker Jeramie Welder. Bauer posted a high school mark of 74-1 at Bismarck and was named a ninth-team high school All-American at 140 pounds by the Amateur Wrestling News. He won two titles at the Minnesota Multi-State Christmas Tournament and was a member of Bismarck's soccer team.
Personal- Ryan, a finance major, is the son of Herman and Sylvia Bauer.
