Regular Season
Zach Walton wrestled at the Grand View Open, where he finished third at 165 pounds. He went 7-1 for the tournament with three major decisions.
Before Nebraska
Walton transferred to Nebraska from the University of Oklahoma, where he spent the fall of 2014. Walton spent his senior year of high school at Edmond North, and took runner-up honors at the state tournament after winning the Oklahoma West 6A Regionals. Walton compiled a 24-6 record at 160 pounds. He was a two-time state placer in Arizona, finishing second and third while at Corona del Sol. Walton went 39-4 during his junior year after going 39-10 as a sophomore. During his freshman campaign, he managed a 26-11 record. In addition, Walton finished sixth at the Virginia Beach Nationals in 2014.
Personal
Zach is the son of Keith and Kelee Walton, and was born on Feb. 7, 1996. Zach is majoring in communications at Nebraska.
