Career Notes
2007-Nick Schaefer provided key depth in the 197 pound class for the Huskers during the 2006-07 season. Schaefer notched a 5-7 record overall, but was 1-1 in duals as a freshman. He recorded one pin on the season and was part of a Husker team that finished 16th as a team at the NCAA Championships.
Before Nebraska-Schaefer was part of four Class B state championship teams at Omaha Skutt Catholic. Schaefer won the 189-pound championship as a senior to cap a 41-2 season.
Personal-The son of DeAnne Schaefer, Nick was born on Jan. 24, 1988, in Omaha, Neb. He has three half-brothers, Josh Smith, 14, Hunter Smith, 10 and Cayden Anderson, 1. Nick was a psychology major.
