2004
-McClain posted a 1-2 mark in his first career appearance at the Big 12 Championships. He opened with a 7-2 overtime victory over Missouri's Mike Whithead, but lost a 6-2 decision to Oklahoma's Leonce Crump and a 7-2 decision to Iowa State's Scott Coleman.

2004
-McClain claimed a 21-9 overall record, including 17-4 in duals, at heavyweight during the 2003-04 season. He opened the season with four-straight dual victories, including three major decisions, before posting a 3-3 mark at the Las Vegas Invitational on Dec. 6. McClain followed with an additional 10-straight dual victories, nearly going undefeated for a full calendar month. He earned seven bonus-point victories during the run, including two pins. His biggest win was a 1-0 upset of sixth-ranked Cole Konrad of Minnesota.

McClain finished the year on a 3-4 slide, but three of his losses came to ranked foes, including one in the top five. McClain earned tow pins, two technical falls and nine major decisions during the season.

2003-McClain posted a 15-6 overall record and a 2-2 dual mark for the Huskers. McClain also wrestled in open tournament where he earned first-place finishes at the Worthington and the Missouri Valley Open. He also added a fifth-place finish at the Mat Town Invitational.

2002-McClain compiled a 16-6 record wrestling in open tournaments. He recorded five pins and three major decisions and had a second-place finish at the Dana College Open on Jan. 12.

Before Nebraska-McClain finished fifth in the heavyweight division at the 2001 NJCAA Championships while wrestling for Iowa Central Community College. McClain was ranked as high as second during the season. While attending Aztec High School in Flora Vista, N.M., McClain won three state titles at heavyweight.

Personal-The son of Cindy and Ronnie Watters, Nathan was born on Feb. 4, 1981. Nathan has one brother, Tyler. Nathan is a restaurant and food service administration major.
