Kettel was sidelined for the 2014-15 campaign with a leg injury.
Before Nebraska
Kettel served as a member of the U.S. Navy SEALs for seven years after graduating from Lakewood High School in 2007. He spent 2013-14 at Tompkins Cortland Community College before enrolling at Nebraska. During his senior year of high school, Kettel placed eighth at the Michigan state tournament at 189 pounds. He also wrestled for Finger Lakes Wrestling Club and played for Lakewood’s football team as a center.
Personal
Josh is the son of Gordon Kettel and Melissa and Paul Athmann, and was born on Dec. 1, 1988. Josh has three siblings, Jenny Skeltis, Mandy Kettel and Will Athmann. Josh is majoring in history at Nebraska. He is a two-time member of the Nebraska Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll.
