Jim Sanchez joined the Huskers as a walk-on in the 1986-87 season after sitting out two years following high school. Jim earned varsity letters in 1987, 1988 and 1989.
A standout high school wrestler, he captured two Wyoming state championships and compiled an impressive 78-7 career record. Wrestling runs in his family as his brother Gil was an NCAA runner-up at 134 pounds in 1986-87, his father Gil Sr. was the 1962 NCAA runner-up at 115 for Colorado State University and his younger brother Frank is a freshman walk-on for Nebraska.
