2010-11 Outlook
Hadley Cooksley hopes to be back on the mat for his sophomore season. The heavyweight has fought through shoulder and knee injuries that have hindered his participation his first two years at Nebraska.
2009-10 (Redshirt Freshman)
Cooksley recovered from shoulder surgery but then suffered a knee injury and was not able to compete.
2008-09 (Redshirt)
Regular Season
Cooksley underwent shoulder surgery during the fall to repair a previous injury, but rebounded to post a 3-4 record in two open tournaments during the spring semester. Cooksley went 1-2 at the Dana Open and claimed a 2-2 mark at the Brand Open. All three of Cooksley's wins came by fall, including a 31-second pin of Dana's Tyler Lauifi.
Before Nebraska
Cooksley was a three-sport standout for Grand Island Northwest. He earned 12 total letters in football, wrestling and track and field. Under Coach Brian Sybrandts, Cooksley amassed a 118-17 record on the mat, including 89 pins. Wrestling at 215 pounds, he earned fifth place at state his sophomore year and followed up with third his junior year. Cooksley won all of his matches during his senior campaign by fall until losing in the state finals, as he notched a 33-1 record at heavyweight.
On the football field, Cooksley was an honorable-mention all-state selection twice. He was also selected to the Shrine Bowl his senior year. Cooksley placed fifth at state in the shot put his junior year and won the title as a senior.
Personal
The son of Kerry and Terry Cooksley, Hadley was born Nov. 15, 1989, in Broken Bow, Neb. He has two brothers, Quentin and Aaron, and one sister, Audra. Hadley is a nutritional science and dietetics major.
