Career Notes
2008-Moyer did not appear in a match for the Huskers in 2007-08.
2007-Moyer finished 19-10 in a busy redshirt season that saw him compete in five open tournaments for Nebraska at 149 pounds. Moyer opened his college career with a 3-2 performance at the Harold Nichols Open on Nov. 11. On Nov. 18, Moyer won his first two matches at the Kaufman-Brand Open before finishing 2-2 in the amateur bracket.
Before Nebraska-A three-time state champion at Oskaloosa High School for Coach Jason Wedgbury, Moyer capped his career at OHS with an undefeated season, winning all 43 matches as a senior. Moyer closed his career with a 143-10 record and was named a high school All-American by Wrestling USA Magazine. Moyer earned a fifth-place finish at Greco-Roman Junior Nationals.
Personal-The son of Dennis and Dorsha Moyer, Derek was born Sept. 17, 1987, in Pella, Iowa. He has one brother, Dominick (23), who is a volunteer assistant coach at NU after completing his career last season. Derek has not yet declared a major at Nebraska.
