2010-11 (Sophomore)
NCAA  Championships
Klingsheim went 0-2 at his first NCAA Championships with an 8-1 loss to Michigan's Sean Boyle before being knocked out of the tournament by North Carolina-Greensboro's Manuel Ramirez.

Big 12 Championships
Klingsheim made one of the most unexpected runs at the Big 12 Championships in conference history, becoming only the second No. 4 seed ever to claim a Big 12 title. Klingsheim opened the tournament with a one-point decision over Iowa State's Brandon Jones, before knocking off No. 1 seed Jon Morrison from Oklahoma State in the semifinals, 6-4, in the sudden-victory period.

In the finals, Klingsheim used the riding time advantage and a penalty point to upset his second top-10 opponent of the tournament in Oklahoma's Jarrod Patterson to capture the title. Klingsheim became NU's first 125-pound wrestler to win a Big 12 title since Paul Donahoe captured first place in 2008.

Regular Season
Klingsheim began his season on the road with a victory over Sam Bauer of Northern Colorado before losing five straight matches, including three against top-25 opponents to drop his record to 1-5. Klingsheim responded with five straight victories of his own to pull his record to 6-5. In that span, the sophomore collected a title at the Quality Hotel Open, along with taking down Billy Watterson from Brown and Wisconsin's Tom Kelliher.

Klingsheim finished the regular season with an 8-9 overall record and a 5-7 mark in dual matches. He helped the Huskers with 15 dual team points to go along with one major decision.


2009-10 (Freshman)
Big 12 Championships
Klingsheim was the fourth seed in the conference tournament and won his first-round match over Eric Wilson of Missouri by a 4-2 decision. Following his win, Klingsheim was pinned by No. 5 Andrew Long of Iowa State to send him to the consolation bracket, where he nearly pulled off an upset of No. 10 Chris Notte of Oklahoma State, but fell, 6-4.

Regular Season
Klingsheim was Nebraska's 125-pound starter the entire 2009-10 season. Although a newcomer to the Division I ranks, Klingsheim performed well by beginning the season with an 8-3 record. That start included two of his biggest wins of the year, a 10-4 upset over No. 13 Steve Bonanno of Hofstra and a pin on Tony Gravely of Appalachian State.

Klingsheim squared off against eight more ranked opponents throughout the regular season, losing two of those matches by a single point. He had a string of three straight wins in duals against Nebraska-Kearney, North Dakota State and North Carolina State, while also tallying back-to-back victories over Big 12 foe Eric Wilson of Missouri and  NCAA qualifier Tony Mustari of Northern Colorado.

Klingsheim was 14-14 during the regular season and finished 9-11 in dual matches. He had two pins and three major decisions.

Before Nebraska
Wrestling in a talent-filled state, Klingsheim excelled at Liberty High School. Klingsheim became just the 18th wrestler ever to place (top eight) in four state meets in California, capped by a 55-0 record and state title in his senior season. As a junior he won the championship with a 51-5 record. Klingsheim won the prestigious Super 32 Challenge in November 2008.

An All-American, Klingsheim placed fourth in the Greco-Roman division at the 2007 Junior National Championships.

Personal
The son of Peter and Tamara Klingsheim, David was born June 9, 1990, in Pasadena, Calif. David has three older brothers, Peter (25), Kip (23) and Adam (21). David has not declared a major at Nebraska.
