Regular Season
Magrew began his freshman campaign with a sixth-place showing at the Harold Nichols Open, winning four matches in his first collegiate action. At the Harold Nichols, three of Magrew's four victories came by pin, including his victory over Oklahoma's Parker Madl in 26 seconds. It was the second-fastest pin by a Husker on the year. Magrew finished the season with a 15-7 overall record and won nine of his last 11 matches. In his last open tournament of the year, Magrew tallied a season-best third-place showing at the Briar Cliff Open.
Before Nebraska
Magrew was a two-time Missouri Class 4 state champion while earning All-America and all-state honors in 2009 and 2010. During his last two years, Magrew was 89-6. Magrew finished fourth at junior nationals and fifth at senior nationals. He began his rise as an underclassmen with top-four finishes at the state tournament in his freshman and sophomore seasons.
Magrew was a four-time wrestling letterwinner and earned one letter in football. He was also a member of the Honor Roll.
Personal
Cody is the son of Micheal and Melissa Magrew. Cody was born in Altus, Mo., on March 19, 1992. He has one sister, Samantha and one brother, Andrew. Cody has not declared an academic major but is a seven-time member of the Nebraska Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll.
