2011-12 (Redshirt)
Christian Gallardo went 0-18 in the 125-pound weight class as a redshirt. He appeared in nine open tournaments. Gallardo achieved success in the classroom, earning a spot on the Nebraska Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll during the fall semester.
Before Nebraska
A three-time state qualifier at Wakefield High School, Gallardo joined the Husker program after a third-place finish at the 112-pound Class D state championships as a senior. Gallardo owned a 102-30 career record in high school and reached at least the quarterfinals of the state tournament all three times he qualified. Gallardo was a four-year letterwinner in wrestling and also lettered in football two years. He excelled both on the mat and in the classroom. He was an academic all-state selection in both 2010 and 2011, and was a member of the National Honor Society.
Personal
Christian is the son of Jose and Maria Gallardo. He was born on June 7, 1993, in Los Angeles, Calif. Gallardo is majoring in architecture and he earned a spot on the Nebraska Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll in the fall of 2011.
