2008-Gubbels did not wrestle in a match for the Huskers during the 2007-08 season.

2007-Gubbels wrestled to a 12-5 record in his first season in the NU wrestling program, including a pair of top-five finishes.

Gubbels opened his career with a 5-2 showing at the Harold Nichols Open on Nov. 11. Of his five wins, three were by major decision and two others were by fall. The following week, Gubbels took fourth in the amateur bracket at 141 pounds at the Kaufman-Brand Open on Nov. 18.

Before Nebraska-Gubbels was a two-time state champion with back-to-back undefeated seasons at Randolph High School. Gubbels was 40-0 with 31 pins, as he won the 140-pound state championship in 2006, after posting a perfect 38-0 record en route to the 135-pound crown in 2005.

Personal-Casey was born Oct. 2, 1987, in Randolph, Neb. The son of Bill and Joan Gubbels, Casey has two brothers, Kyle (23) and Jerad (16). Kyle was a two-year letterwinner in wrestling at Nebraska. Casey is a nutritional science and dietetics major.
