2009-10 Outlook
Cameron Browne hopes to continue his momentum from the end of last season as he moves down to the 184-pound weight class this year. As a sophoore, Browne won 16 of his last 17 matches.
2008-09
Regular Season
Browne started the 2008-09 season with a 2-4 record at the Harold Nichols Cyclone and Kaufman-Brand open tournaments on Nov. 15 and 22, but he rebounded to place at four events, including winning three tournaments, to finish with an 18-5 record.
Browne started his streak with a 5-0 showing, including three major decisions, to capture first at the Fort Hays State Open on Dec. 6. He suffered his last loss of the season at the UNK Loper Open on Dec. 13, as he finished third with a 5-1 mark, but he ended the season on an eight-match winning streak to win the Dana Open on Jan. 3 and the Brand Open on Jan. 17. He earned a career-high six major decisions in 2008-09, while collecting two major decisions and two technical falls.
2007-08
Regular Season
Browne placed in all five open tournaments he competed in at 197 pounds and won two titles during his redshirt season. Browne went 3-0 at the UNK Loper Open on Dec. 8, and 3-0 at the Hastings Open on Jan. 12 to win both events. Browne added a 4-1 performance, including two pins, to place second at the Dana Open on Jan. 5. He finished the season with a 15-5 record, collecting three pins, two technical falls and three major decisions.
2006-07
Big 12 Championships
Browne went 0-2 at heavyweight at the Big 12 Championships. Browne lost to Oklahoma's Brad Farmer, 9-5, before losing to No. 20 Mark Ellis of Missouri by major decision.
Regular Season
One of three true freshmen in Nebraska's starting lineup, Browne fought to a 12-11 record.
Before Nebraska
Browne won the state championship as a senior at 215 pounds for Plattsmouth High School to close a 36-1 senior season. Browne was a runner-up at 215 as a junior and took fifth as a sophomore.
Personal
The son of Bradley and the late Thayes Browne, Cameron was born Nov. 10, 1987, in Blytheville, Ark. He has one sister, Aimee, and three brothers, Aaron, Brandon and Jesse. Brandon was a two-time All-American for the Huskers from 2006-09 and now the Nebraska club coach. Cameron is a communication studies major at Nebraska.
