2006-Brad Zurek finished 5-8 in his second year in the program at 141 pounds.  His best performances were a pair of 2-2 showings in the Kaufman-Brand Open and the UNK Loper Open.  On Nov. 19, Zurek won his first and second-round matches by fall at the Kaufman-Brand Open. 

 

2005-Zurek closed his 2004-05 campaign with a record of 4-7 at 149 pounds.  Zurek wrestled to a 2-1 record at the UNK Runza Loper Open Dec. 11 in <?xml:namespace prefix="st1" ns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags"?>Kearney, Neb., including a 20-1 technical fall victory over Kyle Oyler of Newman. 

 

Before Nebraska-At Sargent High School, Zurek was the 2004 Class D wrestler of the year and a three-time all-state performer for Coach Craig Mauler.  Zurek finished with a career record of 140-5 and was a part of two state championship teams at SargentHigh School.  He also lettered two years in track and four years in football, where he was named an honorable-mention all-state safety as a senior.

 

Personal-The son of Kathy and Scott Zurek, Brad was born in Omaha, Neb., on Aug. 27, 1985.  He has a sister, Jessica, 17, and a brother, Bruce, 15.  Brad was a two-time academic all-state student at SargentHigh School.  Zurek did not declare a major.
