Coach Manning on Meeks:
"Blake committed early on in the recruiting process. We've known him and his family for a while. He's well-schooled and he's gotten better every year. I think he has sought out some really good coaching and really good workout partners. We're excited about Blake being part of our family."
Before Nebraska
Blake Meeks made a big jump in improvement from his sophomore to junior year at Roosevelt High School. After qualifying for the state tournament with a 27-1 record and finishing eighth in 2008, Meeks claimed a runner-up finish at the Iowa Class 3A state tournament in 2009. Following his 16-3 season, Meeks began his senior season ranked No. 2 in the state of Iowa, but his competition was limited due to a shoulder injury.
Personal
Blake is the son of Keith and JoAnn Meeks and was born on April 21, 1992 in Des Moines, Iowa. He has four brothers, John, Keith, Keaunay and Donny. Blake is majoring in criminal justice.
